I think the quote "It is useless to meet revenge with revenge: it will heal nothing." from the novel The Return of the King by J.R.R Tolkien is saying that there's no point in trying to get equal with someone by revenge because in the end, nothing would happen. Trying to get over a situation with someone by using revenge can only create more problems.
I agree with this quote because there really isn't a reason to get revenge on the other person. For example if a kid were to be bullied by another person and the kid bullies the bully, the only thing that would happen is that the kid would get even more bullied by the bully and that would cause more serious problems for the kid. Revenge is not the answer to solve a problem.

Blog 7 "The Raven" Preview
In my own opinion, I think that these words are mysterious and creepy. Someone who likes dark and spooky things would probably use these words. These words create an eerie mood because I don't ever hear or see anyone use this type of vocabulary in their writing besides Poe because he's into the creepy stuff. I also think that these words have a bit of the past to them because instead for using "folk tale" Poe used "lore".

Blog #6 Narrative
“Woohoo guys! We’re almost out of college!” Christian said
“Yeah man. 2 more weeks left. We should go on a road trip to celebrate” Jim hollered across the room
The California college students Christian, Jim, Allison and Lily all agreed on the idea. They all decided to take a road trip to Arizona. On the way there, Allison the smart brunette reads the map and directs Christian. When Allison was about to tell Christian to turn, lily asks to take over the map. Within an instant reply, Allison hands over the map to Lily because she didn’t want Lily to bitch.
“Ugh, why did you have to give the dumb blonde chick the map? You know she’s stupid right? I’m surprised she made it through college” Jim whispered to Allison.
Allison just laughed within herself. Lily’s turning the map in circles trying to figure out the way to read it. When she finally realizes how to read it, she tells Christian to turn right up ahead.
“Turn right up ahead”
“Are you sure?” Christian asked
“Yes! Just turn dammit”
As Christian slowly turns, Jim the smart Asian fella notices that they were turning onto Route 666. Jim tells Allison and she gets scared. When Christian turned onto the route, the sky went from light to really dark. The pretty clouds disappeared and wolves howled in the distance. It was really creepy.
“Where are we?” Allison asked her friends.
“Route 666, shortest way to where we are headed” Lily giggled.
Everything was going fine until they saw someone on the side of the road.
“Hey look! There is someone right there!” Christian said in shock. “I’m going to pull over” Christian swerved off to the side of the road and waits for the man.
“This is a bad idea, we should go right now before something bad happens.” Allison alerted Christian.
Christian drove off but as they were going pass the man, he slowed down to get a good look of the man’s face. The car then swerved off to the other side of the road.
“Holy shit! Did anyone see that or was that just me?!” Christian shouted
“No no no! We saw that too! What the fuck was that?” Jim replied.
It was a faceless hitchhiker that was wearing a blue shirt and black pants. Up ahead, from a distance they all saw light. A light from a gas station. Christian speeds to the gas station for help. There was a man alone all by himself. Jim notices that he was wearing the same clothes as the hitchhiker. A blue shirt and a pair of black pants. It was a coincidence but Jim really didn’t pay attention to him as much. As everyone went to use the restroom, Lily goes to the lady across the street. The lady was wearing a white gown with a little bit bloodstains on it. She had long brownish/reddish hair. The others then came back and wonders where Lily went. The lady across the street sucked the soul of Lily and transforms to look exactly like Lily. The man in the gas station then takes Lily’s body somewhere no one can find her. When they all got into the car, “Lily” tells them that she went to go ask the man which way they should go. Jim and Allison look each other in a funny way because Lily was acting weird. She was staring out the window and talking to herself.
“Look! There’s a house right there” Allison said
“Oh yeah! That’s really weird. It’s the middle of no where and like the house is just right there” Jim added.
Christian then turns onto the road where the house was located not aware that there was a sign up front saying “DO NOT ENTER”. The house looked really nice from the distance but as they got to the house, it was really old. The house outlasted other houses they saw. 2 of the 3 glass windows remained. The lights weren’t working but there was a fire pit and some wood on the side. Jim, Christian, and Lily stayed in the living room while Allison wandered off in the house.
“Ugh ew, it smells really bad. I wonder who lived here.” She said to herself
There was a room that had a disturbing smell. Allison wanted to know what it was so then she called for the others. Christian and Jim ran to Allison in disgust asking her what happened.
“What’s that smell? It smells as if something had died in here!”Jim stated.
"Jim, go open the closet door. I'm not doing that. It smells really bad" Christian mumbled while covering his face with his shirt.
"No. We're all going to open the door together, right Allison?"
"Yeah sure..." Allison said with a disgusted face.
The three college students took a step closer to the closet and reached out their hands. They pulled the latch and BAM! There was a stripped down white blonde girl in there.
"OH MY GOD! IT'S LILY!" They all gasped
"Then..then who was with us in the car?!" Jim murmured
They all ran out screaming for their lives. When they got outside, the man at the gas station and the lady in the white gown transformed to what they really look like and what they tricked the kids with. Jim, Allison, and Christian ran as fast as they could leaving their car behind because they didn't have much time to waste to start the car. From running for their lives, they finally made it to the road. Lucky them, a police officer showed up. Jim then explained to the officer what happened but then he didn't believe them. The police officer thought that they were drinking that night so he took the kids to the police station where other officers were asking them questions. Some police officers were sent to check the "haunted" road and house they were in. After all, Jim, Allison, and Christian were right. There was something wrong with the road and the house. By the way, the spirits of the route still remains and have been seen by many people. Beware...

Blog #5
La Guera's playlist-
1.) "Boss ass bitch" by PTAF
I chose this song because Priscilla aka "La Guera'' thinks shes the top of everyone. She does whatever she wants and doesn't care about what happens.
2.) "Lean like a Chola" by Carmen
I chose this song because it fits La Guera's appearance. For example, in the story it was telling us that Priscilla had become a homegirl and did her makeup and hair to be like her other chola friends.
3.) "Young, wild and free" by Wiz Khalifa
I chose this song because La Guera is young, wild and free. She's in the 6th grade and had been to juvie for 2 days. After getting caught from stealing candy, she still continued on stealing more and more junk food not caring about getting caught again.
4.) "Changes" by 2pac
I chose this song because when Pricilla aka "La Guera" was younger, she had rainbows and unicorns in her life but as the time went by, they slowly started to fade away. When the rainbows and unicorns left, I feel that becoming a chola and being called La Guera was the only thing she had left.
5.) "I don't give a fucc" by Nipsey Hussle
I chose this song because when La Guera went to Wisconsin, she still didn't change herself. She didn't care. This song reminds me of when La Guera and her cousins took the tractor from the field to the road to go to the store.
6.) "Wrecking ball" by Miley Cyrus
I chose this song because to me, La Guera is like a wrecking ball. She's trying her hardest to get her rainbows and unicorns back but then she seems to not find it anywhere. She starts to steal even though she knows that she's not the type of person.

Blog #4 Character Archetypes
Martin from The Elevator is a coward because he was afraid to use the elevator when going places.
Martin's dad is a bully because when Martin was telling him about the elevator, he would just make fun of Martin and call him a coward.
The Tell-Tale Heart's narrator is a dreamer and a masquerader because when the officers came, he act as if he was innocent and didn't do anything bad even though he did.
Vincent is a dreamer because he wanted to be like Vincent Price.
The narrator from Marin is a child and an analyst because she looks up to Marin and she knows everything about Marin.
Marin is a temptress and a sycophant because she always wear short skirts, all she cares about is guys, and when she smokes, she goes right under the light and starts dancing waiting for a car to come.

Blog #3 "Vincent"
Vincent by Tim Burton is narrated in 3rd person omniscient. 3rd person omniscient tells us what the character is doing and what the character is thinking about. The poem shows us what Vincent's thinking about, such as the monsters, dipping his aunt in wax, and doing an experiment on his dog. Another effect of 3rd person omniscient is that the narrator is not in the story but knows all the characters and events.
Changing the POV from 3rd person omniscient to 1st person changes the whole story because Vincent is now telling us the story. 1st person POV limits us from imagining the story but it gets more personal. It helps the readers understand Vincent's emotions and thoughts.
In my opinion, I prefer the poem in 3rd person omniscient because it made more sense. 3rd person omniscient helped me visualize, understand, and like the story better than how 1st person did.
